The Impact of Legislation
There were no legislative changes in 2006 that had a material impact on the University’s operations. There were no significant judicial decisions which affected the University in 2006.
Public Interest Disclosure Act
The University has appointed a Public Interest Disclosure Officer in accordance with the provisions of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003. There were no matters of Public Interest Disclosure reported to the University in 2006.
University Litigation
There are no matters of significant litigation involving the University which have caused a contingent liability or asset to be recorded in the University’s accounts. There are no matters of significant litigation that will, or are likely to, make a material change to the University’s operations.
Environmental Legislation
There were no matters involving breach of State or Federal environmental legislation by the University in 2006.
Record Keeping
The University is committed to records management practices which comply with the relevant legislation and are in line with good professional practice. Its Record Keeping Plan has been cleared by the State Records Commission and will be fully approved pending the submission of a revised Records Disposal Authority. Information on record keeping is now included on the University’s staff induction web site and a statement regarding each staff member’s record-keeping responsibilities is available. Significant achievements include the implementation of a formal record keeping training programme and the development and circulation of the quarterly newsletter Impress (Information Management Press).

Media and Advertising Expenditure
In accordance with Section 175ZE of the Electoral Act 1907 the University is required to report on expenditure incurred during the financial year in relation to advertising agencies, market research organisations, polling organisations, direct mail organisations and media advertising organisations. (See list of expenditure overleaf.)
